The plum is the first thing to flower in a Nanjing winter. Five petals, one colour, a stem that reads as a branch rather than a wire. Silk is dyed in three passes so the centre of each petal holds more colour than the edge.

Care
Keep the piece dry and out of direct sun. Put perfume and hairspray on before the piece goes in, not after. Store it flat in its box; copper wire keeps its shape, but silk will hold a fold if it is crushed.
